This part was designed out of necessity during the rain tray “deletion” on Project 1OFF GLI. The factory plastic air intake cover that feeds the heater core behind the firewall is unsightly at best. Having access to both Autodesk Inventor and a water-jet machine, it made sense to dimension out the stock cover and have a plate cut out of aluminum. The initial design for the 1OFF GLI was a simple horizontal louvered piece. Friends from Florida, Ian and Leah, requested a similar piece for Leah’s 20th GTI build but of course with a design to suit her project.
